Some classmates and I are in a tight spot: our chairman just informed us that he'll start working on our letters this week. This means we'll be lucky to get them in by Friday, violating the official deadline of a few programs, and the unofficial deadline of many others. The chairman's letter is the last of my 3, so I'm concerned and would like to hear suggestions for damage control that won't **** anyone off.

I am in the same boat, though not with chairmen letter. Would be interested to hear feedback.

What's done is done, but you should have asked more than just three people to write you a letter of recommendation. I asked 5 people; I got 2 with very little extra effort on my part, 2 I had to politely harass, and I don't think I'll ever get the 5th (which doesn't matter at this point because I can only send 4 LORs anyways). The only think you can do now is politely ask your chairman to have the letter finished as soon as possible. Remind him of the official deadline.
