I just found out that two of my referees got confused about the letters and didn't mail them out to date. I separated those schools who have evaluation forms to be attached and the others who do not require any forms. Apparently, my referees thought those schools with the forms are the only ones I am making an application to. I emailed them (since I'm staying overseas for work) an attachment with a list of other schools with their addresses and deadlines, but somehow the referees missed it. It's so frustrating to know a month after the deadline, and I immediately emailed those schools to see if I can get extension. What happens usually when you submit late LOR's? Are they strict about the deadline? I know some schools kindly report you if there's any missing material, but no school have notified me yet even if they were missing 2 letters. Any previous experiences or advice on this matter??

You did the right thing letting them know about the situation. ADCOMs are typically pretty cool about LOR deadlines. They realize that it's essentially out of your control, and that some letter writers can be scatterbrained.

I think that your (realistic) worst case scenario is getting screwed into a late interview invite, which could lead to the limbo that is the waitlist.

dahlia, you could be a poster child for using interfolio.com.

I think it is generally considered your responsibility to verify that all your materials have been received by the med schools.

Sorry to hear of your difficulty. I had a late responder last year that barely got in under the wire with an overnight letter to TMDSAS, which covers multiple schools.
