Where's RVU?????? o snap

I felt the exact opposite way when i saw WVSOM. I went "wait... what? Since when do they have reputation?"

This is not *directly* a diss on WVSOM, but I was under the impression they were somewhat of a 'forgotten' campus. A redheaded stepbrother no one talks about and we all forget to invite when we have our osteopathic family photo every Christmas.

Thats exactly how i thought the rankings might go, except WVSOM. Theres no way that makes the list.....especially over the 5 great schools after it.

Are you serious?

I am choosing WVSOM over CCOM, and proud to do so.

No diss to you or your decision (as I'm really not qualified enough to independently back my next comment beyond repetition of word on the street): but WVSOM is, on paper, a rather middling school, from what I've see casually and been told repeatedly. I'm curious where its reputation would have come from. My guess is perhaps it has a strong presence in its local (aka state/region) community? That can matter for a lot.

Wiki said:
Focusing on rural medicine and primary care, WVSOM has been ranked in U.S.News & World Report's top osteopathic medical schools report 10 consecutive years. In that same report, WVSOM was ranked in the top 10 for rural medicine in four of the last six years. More recently, WVSOM has been recognized in family medicine with rankings in U.S.News & World Report's Top Schools for Family Medicine.

That's good enough for a lot of people. I'm not a big fan of rankings, just throwing it out there.

Note these are not ranking of each programs reputation, but what the individual people attending the universities think.

"In all, 155 respondents commented on the length of the process, and 90 percent of the comments were negative."

What a shocker

Interesting info, but I didn't get an online survey.

edit: oops, I guess I misread. This was for 2010 matriculation - not app cycle. I guess I'll expect one this summer. 🙂
