Latest to take Step 1

Special circumstances deem that I must take step 1 a year later (3rd year). When is the latest I can take it?

For example, if I take it at the end of June, will it give me enough time to apply for residency (I think applications start in September, right)? Anything I should be concerned with or anything else I should consider?

As long as you have a score back by Sept, it shouldn't be an issue.
The issue will be that you will forget a lot of what you learned in the first 2 years.
I can't imagine too many scenarios where I would recommend this approach.

Is taking the year off an option for you? It seems tough to take Step1 and have to take Step2 in a couple of months.
