can someone please explain what LDA does/ what common reactions is it found in?

also, for E2, when there isn't a bulky base...does it follow mark addition?

LDA is a strong base used to remove alpha-hydrogens in many ketone/aldehyde alpha addition reactions.

E2 reactions go markovnikov if no bulky base is present and the more substituted side has an anti-periplaner H to leave.
