Anyone know the top 10 least competitive DO schools?

Having a hard time figuring out the averages for DO schools and which schools to bother applying for as my stats arent really competitive for some of the higher tier schools.

Ive viewed the excel doc but not sure how accurate the data is, and its also missing data for some schools.

Typically I have heard the newer schools are more lenient.

All the newer schools and those that haven't graduated a first class yet. Examples are:
ACOM
VCOM-Auburn
ARCOM
BCOM
ICOM
LUCOM
RVU-SU
UIW
William Carey
WVSOM (not new but fairly easy to get into)

Above is not true. Not all DO schools are THAT competitive. I've known several (emphasis on several) people who have gotten into a DO school scoring a 22/45 or less than 500 on the MCAT. If your stats are sub-par, it's good to know which schools you have a realistic shot at.

agreed.

Do you or anyone know if schools like CCOM is worth applying to if youre instate even with a subpar gpa (3.2-3.3)?

I'd say it's worth if your MCAT is solid, but otherwise, probably not.

Yes! Apply. CCOM doesn’t have an in-state-bias per say, but we do have a large portion of our class from Illinois. If you have a decent MCAT and other activities/experiences that make your application stand out, you are a prime candidate for an end of the year interview at CCOM. They interview in-state applicants with lower GPAs/MCATs at the end of the cycle. These interviews are for open seats (not the waitlist) so if you get an interview you have a good chance of being accepted.

That's awesome to hear. Illinois resident here and trying to get to CCOM!

What are your stats????

I have a 3.2 cGPA and 3.4sGPA. MCAT is 499, couldve done better.

Can i retry early Jan and still apply this cycle when scores come out Feb?

If so, any recommendations for for lower competitive schools?

By Feb it will be too late in the cycle. Your chances are best with the newest schools, and LECOM.

Most new schools seem to have deadlines around march. If i feel like i can do much better on my MCAT, would it still be too late due to available spots?

Also should i cross out schools like edward, rocky vista, UNECOM, Lincoln memorial, A.T Arizona, touro nevada, wvsom, even though they have march deadlines? I dont think they are new but less competitive.

LMU is lumped in with the less competitive ones. No to rocky vista they like high mcats.

499 would make it difficult to get into ccom but I’d send an app anyways because you could be that lucky star. But your chances are ridiculously small

It's possible. But why do you think you can do better on the 2nd MCAT go around?

I feel that UNECOM IS a competitive school, and if you're not from the Northeast, it's not worth applying anyway. TUNCOM is fairly competitive, as is RVU. RVU-UT is different. VCOM, WVSOM SOMA, and LMU will be worth a try.

Although the deadlines are march, a lot of those schools will have accepted several people by that point. Updating with a january MCAT i really risky; worth a shot I guess if you have already applied, but if you have yet to apply I would just wait until next cycle frankly.

RVU-UT is different.

Nah, they could fill almost their whole class with 3.5/508 applicants from BYU alone. Don't underestimate the draw of staying in state for Utah people, I know people who would give up decent MD acceptances just to be close to home. It's ridiculous in my opinion, but is just the nature of the beast.

First, your best chances are to wait until next cycle. Second, of this list I would recommend applying to WVSOM, AT-SOMA, and LMU with your stats as they currently are.

AG12, you are totally correct in regard to RVU-Utah. This year's class has an MCAT average of 505, with a 3.5 GPA and 55% of the students are from Utah. I would not place this school into the less competitive category. In fact, RVU-Utah and RVU-Denver's stats are quite compariable.
