I have an interview at LECOM and NSU coming up soon and I was wondering if I could get any helpful information on the schools. i.e. what distinguishes them from other schools, what are some opportunities at each school, like is there study aboard, patient simulator, early patient contact, different learning pathways. I know most of these, but I just want to get feed back from other individuals. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I'm at Lecom now, I'm in PBL so I learn from case studies, already taking a history and physical class, will begin patient contact as soon as anatomy is over, we just got a new center with a patient simulator, they do have international rotations, good profs, and a new research center. PM me if you have anymore questions.

I'm an MSIV at Lecom. My first two years were completed within the PBL pathway. I've been extremely happy with the education at Lecom, and so have my attendings. If you can deal with their quirky rules (dress code, no food out of the cafeteria, attendance policy), then I'm not sure you could find a better school.

BTW, PBL students deal with the rules much less frequently. In PBL, you are only required to be on campus a few hours a week.

PM me if you have any questions. Good luck!
:luck:

I am an M1 at NSU...been goog so far....the food rule is no food in auditoriums but that is pretty lax unless there is administration expected. I ate breakfast in class everyday this week, and everyone has there coffee. Dress code is scrubs or buis casual...no big deal at all, unless your are the type that just can't stand rules. We do have an attendance policy, 70% of classes...Labs are 100%...again these can be bent to fit you needs. If you need to miss more than 30% of your classes you have other problems. Prof's are good,, just like anything some you will like and some you wont. You really need to find out if the school fits you and the city. If you want warm and sunny weather NSU is the eay to go....and I do mean warm it is hot as hell in the summers here, but it is starting to cool down. We have a pt simulator, his name is "Harvey"suppose to be cool, I have only seen him. As far as early Pt contact, I rotate through an IM office every other Fri...I just started today...think it will be fun. Hope this helps with my limited experience so far. As with anything there is stuff I like and stuff I don't, but sometimes you have to take things with a grain of salt. 😉

I give it 👍 👍
