Nope but I have friends there. Some people have had a very tough time adjusting to PBL. Some people don't like having to teach yourself medicine. Some people don't like how the school is run. Everyone is different and you may love the school. I would always try and give myself more options for my professional development, so I say to apply to other schools.

Did the MMS admissions committee download your letters of rec and transcripts from your app to their med or dental school? Or do I have to submit all that stuff again for the MMS application?

You don't have to send AACOMAS to LECOM for the Erie campus if you are a MMS student. Not sure about bradenton campus though.
 
So my admission status was updated from under review to
The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days.
does this mean I've been rejected? Because I didn't get an interview or phone call?

Unless some things have changed, some kids never receive a phone call or interview. It could as well be an acceptance letter you'll just have to wait to see

I got accepted and did not receive either of those, but I’ll be declining the offer

I had the same message, no phone call or interview, and received my acceptance letter about 4 days later in the mail!
 
Does anyone know what Samantha McDonalds email is? I'm trying to contact her about the MMS program

Thanks for your help in advance. Do you know what the acceptance rate is from the MMS to the DO program, also , did they say anything about having a minimum MCAT for acceptance to the D.O program? I have a 502, so i'm wondering if i should retake it.

The MCAT is good you just need above a 40% I believe. I haven’t asked for this years hopefully someone can clarify, but previous years it’s been on average 50 start, high 30s left by beginning of spring, and mid20ish/30 get in. Rough numbers obviously
 
I created a group for those who are attending the program come July. I think it would be good for collaboration and setting up study groups since we are going to be online. If there are any current MMS or OMS1-2 students who would like to join to help us newbies, please feel free to join as well.

News flash: This information came from current students at this school. If you are looking to attend the MMS program, beware. They use words such as if you maintain a certain gpa you will get an interview but that does not mean you will get accepted. As a Florida resident, I wanted to attend here because it is the closest medical school to me so I did my research. Less than 20 of almost 50 students who interviewed for the DO program from their MMS program were accepted and even less were accepted for the dental program. Now this school is planning to have up to 200+ students in the MMS programs in the future and make it online knowing that only 20 of this students or less will eventually be accepted in the end for the DO program. This is a money scheme. This school is pocketing money from students being in their MMS program but most of these students will not get accepted in the end. I was shocked when I heard about this. I will not be applying here anymore. Thank you all to the past and current students at this school who were honest about what is really going on. Also if you are on the waitlist for their DO or dental school, students currently attending there said the classes are full and the school is too scared to send out a bunch of rejection letters at once.

What you just said is TRUE for Erie MMS too? From the previous MMS students and program directors, matriculation to DO from MMS at Erie campus is pretty good if you meet the required standards 🤔

My research was on the Bradenton campus since I live in Florida. I just wanted premedical students like myself who are applying to schools this year to be aware of the money scheme occurring at this campus. You have been a member on here longer that most so maybe you have some insight on the Erie campus.
 
If anyone is reading this, listen to what Natdoc is saying. I won't say my affiliation, but the masters program is going permanently online. There will be 200 or so students in the program. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH THIS PROGRAM AT THIS POINT. The whole point of the masters was to be able to come in person, meet faculty, network, and get accepted. I no longer see how this program is advantageous for what it costs. Take a year, do research, kill the DAT, take a couple of advanced classes at a college nearby, NETWORK LIKE CRAZY, and apply to dental school this way. Do not go into debt for a program like this.

Do you know if same applies to MMS at Erie location too? If it is worse or better than MMS program at Bradenton? Thanks!

I have no clue about what goes on in Erie. You need to call someone there and see if the class size has ballooned to a huge amount. If it has, pass on LECOM completely.

The class has historically been around 170 students. Same amount of students they enroll during when program at Erie was post bacc and now MMS. The class size has not ballooned. Also Erie MMS students beginning program in the fall are given option to attend program either in person at the campus or online. Erie MMS looks decent to me compared to bad reputation MMS bradenton has got. But yeah, cross verification is must.

Hello everyone, I just finished the MMS program in the class of 2021, I will be an incoming D1 at LECOM. First year this class was moved online. I would take any information you hear with a grain of salt.
It is completely possible to be accepted to your respective program. Although, there was a significant decrease in the percentage of students that were accepted to medical and dental. I don’t know anything about the medical students other than less than half were accepted. For the dental, I don’t know the exact number, but fewer than 25% were accepted.
With that being said, you need the minimum DAT or MCAT score and a high gpa in this program to be accepted. (No sub-scores below 17 on DAT) It is NOT easy. I firmly believe this program is more difficult than what the medical or dental school will be.
This program is perfect for those who want to prove they can be accepted to professional school. I am extremely grateful for this masters program. Even though it was an extremely stressful year.
If anyone has any questions for me feel free to DM and I’ll try and get back to you as soon as I can.
I can not stress it enough that this is a very difficult but can be rewarding program.

Cutoff GPA’s in this program were ambiguous for us. I do know this now, but things can always change. For the dental, you must have a 3.3+ by end of fall to be acceptable. Then you must keep a 3.2+ and no C’s in spring. If you miss the contingency you will be re-reviewed. I believe for medical it might be 0.1 higher for fall and spring. You really must shoot for a higher GPA. They do take into account everything else like DAT and dental experience, but GPA will be the biggest factor in the MMS.

Do you by chance know how many students were accepted into the med school from the MMS program? I've heard only 20-30 get accepted, and the class size is 200, which makes it seem like the program isn't worth doing if the percentages aren't that high.

Not sure about class size changes. Our max was 120 then students left after summer then more after fall either for poor performance or getting accepted elsewhere. Think there was around 112 who went all the way through.

I don’t know too much about the medical side. It’s not really public knowledge, it’s just who you talk to. From the looks of it, maybe 40% of medical was accepted. Medical makes up the majority of the MMS class as well. There was only about 26 dental track.

I wouldn’t let the percentages get in your head though. If you make the grades and have the scores: it’s guaranteed. Just some of the professors do make challenging questions on exams. Averages floated between 80-85.

Hi! I'm not sure the best place to post this, I posted it in the LECOM-B MMS 2022-2023 thread but I haven't gotten any responses so I think maybe the prior class might have better insight into the questions below?

I am accepted to the MMS class of 2022-2023 at LECOM-B. Very excited to start! I'm a non-traditional student and have been working for the past ~14 years in the medical device industry full time and part time as a paramedic.

I have some questions about the program....

-I currently live in St Pete (about 45 min drive from campus) and so I am trying to decide whether or not to do the program in person or virtually. I think I will do much better in the program in person, but I'm concerned that the drive each day will impact my study time. Any feedback on in person vs virtual? Where are you located? Did you stay nearby to the campus if in person?

-What are the days and times for in person classes? is it M-F? I heard M-F 9-3 but haven't been able to confirm that anywhere. I planned to ask admissions but figured I'd ask here also.

-Do you know about how many people they accept or are going to accept to the program? And as a follow-up I'm wondering how many will be accepted and go on to the DO program (that's my plan/goal from this program).

-What is everyone else's undergrad degree in? Anyone have other graduate/advanced degrees? I studied Bioengineering at Lehigh for my undergrad (but it was about 14 years ago) and I did my MBA online in 2017. Just curious as to how demanding/difficult the program is going to be compared to an engineering degree or MBA... I know it's going to be very difficult, just trying to gauge a little better whether or not I can work a PT job since I'm leaving my FT job to attend the program. I worked 3 PT jobs during my undergrad but it was terrible!
