Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has been accepted into LECOM's DO early assurance program and if so how was the interview and competition. I recently applied to it and got an interview invite, they didn't take a formal application just wanted me put in my SAT's, HS GPA, and current college GPA (currently a sophomore), that was all. Any insight on how this program is or any advice would be greatly appreciated, also if i was to be accepted should I accept, I wont have any other choices till senior year when i apply traditionally i may apply to a couple other early assurance MD programs.

stats if interested:
HS SAT (2 part) - 1240
HS average- 93.2
College GPA (2 semesters as bio major) - 4.0
EC's:
1 semester chemistry research
Volunteering at Pediatric, Urgent Care centers, and hospital's community relations person
Teach on the Beach club - teach local kids about community/diversity and also interact with kids in Ghana via skype

Thanks

I would only ever apply early assurance for MD programs. Not really worth it for DO, especially if you keep your current stats. You can easily enter LECOM without it during a regular cycle.

Just my .02 cents.

Agreed. Why limit your options so early on? Unless you are really worried about the MCAT or something like that, there is no point in these early assurance programs unless you LOVE one school, and one school only.

There's two threads on this today, so I'm quoting myself from the other one:

I'm a current student at LECOM, and I like it, but I still don't know if I'd recommend the EAP. In the grand scheme of things, an extra year of undergrad isn't a big deal and nets you more options-- everything from MD to out-of-state-DO to realizing you'd rather be a PhD researcher or join the Peace Corps. LECOM might end up being the choice you want-- absolutely nothing wrong with that-- but I don't see why you'd want to limit your choices this early in the game.
