Lecom Erie Official Thread

I was wondering if any one knows if LECOM Erie admits international students. I' definitely want to apply to about 4-5 school but I need to know my stand before "wasting money" you know.
I have great stats but I'm just wondering if anyone know anything about this.

Thanks any information will be highly appreciated.

From what I understand, the door is closed to international students. This is information from my undergrad. pre-pharm. advisor and LECOM's requirement that the applicant must be a US citizen/permanent resident found on their new site (http://www.lecom.edu/app_degree_rx.php) and on PharmCAS.

This could all change in the near future of course, just like the PCAT requirement.

Amen to " We are all in the same boat." May be not interms of age but we share the same educational interest and goal that is why we are in the same boat. Hey and I am 30 and don't feel old yet😀 .

Does LECOM require we have our own car? what if I don't have one?

yes, I meant with study. Age is not a point.
I don't have car either. I have to buy one. I am going to erie to see the campus and look for the apartments in the last weekend of june. I don't know how the transportation facilities are there.
I think we need a car. During rotations, interns we will need to go other places and it will be much convenient with a car. especially in crazy weather.

I just found this website and thought maybe it would be useful for some of you that will be rooming with classmates. It keeps track of all shared expenses so you can see who all owes what and who is up to date on their part of the rent.

Hey guys as much as I am excited about being accepted to LECOM, I am also concerned about the intensity of the course. I used to take at least 13 credit hrs every semester with full time job. I don't know if it is going to be more intense than that. do you still think that it will be hard with me not planing not to work?

Second, price wise approximately how much money do you think I will owe once I finish the 3 yr? (tution, living expense and everything else included?

Are there any students here that went to LECOM that can share some of their experiences with LECOM? How did they manage the rigor and the cold🙂 ?

Any reply is helpful......thanks.

Marco.

I just started my last quarter of classes at LECOM. The course work is intense, but if you have good study habits it souldn't be a problem at all. I don't recommend having a full time job while at LECOM, but about half the students do have intern jobs in the area where they work 10-15 hrs a week. I personally don't have a job, but Ohio doesn't require intern hours anymore.

To those of you who are worried about age, my class has several people who are in their 30's and 40's. I guess it is never to late to change your career.

About the laptop requirement. I never take my laptop to school. I think I took it about 5 times maybe. It just depends on your study style although the laptops are useful if you don't like to study at home all the time because all of the lectures are powerpoints.

If anyone has any questions I'll be glad to help. I'm in the class of 2008.

Thanks for posting. It's nice to hear from people that are already attending LECOM. Do you know how hard/easy it was for the students that are interning to find their internships?

I would start looking as soon as you move or maybe start calling pharmacies to see if they have any positions open before you move. Once classes start everyone will probably be looking for jobs. Most of my class is leaving at the beginning of September so that might be a good time to start looking.

Like most things in life, having the right connections and being in the right place at the right time certainly helps. I had the good fortune of knowing a tech. from my classes who was quitting and he was my ace. My 1st day as a tech. my preceptor found me and now I just waiting for the intern license to show up in the mail.

I'm on my way to Erie tomorrow to look at housing. If anyone wants me to check something out for them (and I can get wireless internet access from my hotel tomorrow) I'll be more than happy to. If anyone has any hints on townhomes that are reasonably priced and close to LECOM I'm all ears.

Hey..so how was your day looking at apartments. are they easy to find and pretty cheap? is the availability pretty open? tell us about your experience in erie.

I'm on my way back home. Erie isn't bad. It seems like a nice town. The apartment hunting was a total bust. Everyone was closed today, Saturday. The people that I did get in touch with had nothing available. Things don't look promising on the apartment front.

Not to sound completely pessimistic or discouraging, but there is very little to Erie especially if you come from a real city.

That makes sense with your apt. hunting. I recall when I lived in an apt. complex and the rental office was only open Mon.-Fri. and only during normal business hours, making it difficult to make on-site inquires/tours if you work during the day. I would not be concerned about finding available apartments.

im in the class of 09, so if any1 has any questions, more than welcome to ask me

I was looking at a website that I wanted to get your opinion on. http://stu.dicio.us/ It's a free website where you can store classnotes, schedules, to do lists, etc. You can have everything public, have everything private, or have it set where only the people you choose can view your notes/schedule/whatever. I was wondering if this is something any of you might consider using for class. I like the note sharing feature because it also allows people that you've given access to your notes the ability to comment on your notes. That way if a classmate notices you've written down something that's incorrect then they can point it out to you right there in your notes. Opinions?

Does anyone know if LECOM has something similar already set up for it's students?

Question:

I am currently working on my pre-write for LECOM's supplimental essays and I am wondering if any of you know if there is a word limit, and if so, what is that limit?

For LECOM - Bradenton? Do you have to specify which campus you want to attend when you do Pharmcas? Do they email you a link to complete the supplement for LECOM? If you do complete the supplemental for LECOM does it go for Bradenton or the one campus in PA?

anyone hear from lecom

anyone heard anything yet from lecom

yes....i was rejected from Lecom Erie about a week ago. havnt heard back about Lecom Fl yet

sorry to hear that 😡😡 i have no clue what this school wants...seems not much info about it

PharmCAS was complete on September 28.

Today, I received an email from LECOM inviting me to fill the supplementals.

Hopefully, after I send them, I'll get two more invitations: interview & ADMISSION

Good luck!

What are some characteristics about LECOM Erie?
I'm writing the supplemental essay right now.
I don't know much about the school except they have the 3-yr-program.

Does anyone live around the city?
What's it like?

My brain isn't still functioning due to the PCAT test yesterday.. haha

I feel the same way with the PCAT. My brain doesn't function well after feeling uncertain about PCAT kind of lost motivation to fill out the supplemental application... coz I know my last chance for PCAT is gone for this school.. they don't accept Jan PCAT..🙁 BUt on the other hand, waiting until receiving PCAT result will be too late. 🙁 sigh...

Can anyone please point me to the part of the LECOM website for admissions/prospective students? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

To access the supplemental application go to www.lecom.edu and click on the "apply" box at the top of the page.

Google will send you to www.my.lecom.edu and that is not helpful and old. Do not go there.
