Hello everyone,

So recently I got accepted in touro college of pharmacy but I was placed on the waitlist for lecom erie..LECOM is my top choice bc it is closer to my home, is cheap and have three year pharmacy program. Since it is tough to find an apartment in nyc later in july or august, they suggest me that I shOuld start looking right now. If I do end up finding a place and then get my acceptance letter from lecom. I'll be stuck with an year lease and Would have to pay termination fee..what should I do? Should I continue waiting to hear from LECOM or go head with touro.

Thank you everyone in advance

Have a few places in mind to live in NYC and even pay the app fee to get approval on an apt, but do NOT sign a lease.

If you do not get LECOM at least the apt has your pre-approval for an easy move-in. But to cover yourself have at least 3 places lined up. In CA app fees are $50, which is way better than paying a termination fee of $2000!

Good Luck! I hope you get LECOM, but Touro NY is not a bad second option 👍

It could have been avoided. I borrowed way more than I needed. Like almost $160k more than I needed.

Really? That's all? When i was calculating mine ends up being over 300k.. did u get a scholarship or something?

Not sure if you factored this into your decision or even care about this but:

Erie, PA Vs New York City. Where would you rather spend 3-4 years of your life? Some bum town in Penn or the greatest city in the world?

new york city is not the greatest city in the world. that was decades ago. i hate it when people still say its the greatest, especially when i'm in the city in a club or a bar and they are shouting it out like it actually means something (turtle bay every wednesday performing the same set over and over and over...)

you will get an experience no matter where you are. the city thing is overrated, take it from me, born there, raised there, went to school there, all the family there, own property there, still live 10 minutes away from there... i get more enjoyment leaving the tri-state area.

ME PERSONALLY, i would do lecom. bang it out in 3 years, get a 1 year head start. i would have rather been 23 making an rph salary than 24 making an rph salary.

Depends. Being raised here, I find it boring, but when I go out of state; I find it more boring. I never really get why people think the city is great. But when I find time to myself, and mingling with the tourists, I think nyc is pretty great after all 🙂. But it is not worth it to put yourself in debt to stay here!

Thank you all for your advice..I really appreciate it..I really want to do pharmacy school in nyc but I am just concerned about the cost of living.lol im just little stressed about this big move...I hope everything work out at the end.
