LECOM-Erie

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If you're out-of-state for Ohio's DO school, you better have a 518 when applying, because its going to be real difficult to enter a school with a 3% out-of-state acceptance rate.
If OOS, I think OUs OOS tuition is higher then LECOMs

Ya, I'd be willing to bet OP is IS. So should be fine. If OP was OOS, then he would have more schools than just LECOM around.
This was complicated very quickly hahaha.

I’m accepted to OU. I plan on attending OU, but would LECOM be worth checking out?

I would go to Erie for interview only if you would go to that school if accepted. There are facts about both schools that can help you decided even before visiting Erie. Tuition, location, rotations, etc.

If you research here on SDN there is a lot of info about LECOM. It depends what you prefer about the school.

For example OUCOMs rotations are in the state, while LECOMs all around the country

Recently accepted to my #1. Just received an invite for LECOM-Erie. Worth going to the interview and at least checking it out or avoid?

Avoid, it's a waste of money. You wouldn't go to LECOM over Ohio unless you're OOS and that obligation thing to practice in Ohio for 5 years is a problem. If it's not, save your money and time.

From my interview the positives seem to be:
-Inexpensive
-Good COMLEX 1 scores
-Has a teaching hospital

The students overall didn't seem very enthusiastic about the administration. Most went for cost or geographical convenience.

Do you like required lecture attendance and dress codes????

Important to note that OU’s Cleveland and Dublin campuses also have a dress code! However the pod casted lectures are still a huge benefit.

Its a good school, I just got accepted there. They care a lot about their students and a really laid back interview. They also prepare you very well for boards and have a high residency match rate. They do have a dress code and require attendance to lectures but thats also for your own good. They have 3 different pathways so you don't have to do lectures if you can get into their other pathway.

The thread in the school specific forum might be a better place to ask

I'm a senior high school and I have an interview with LECOM this week. Do you know how the interview works for high school students?

I heard LECOM 3rd year one has to take the rotation, and then shelf exam and then also an internal exam worth 20% of marks. Has anyone heard that? Is that a good practice?
