Depends what your #1 isRecently accepted to my #1. Just received an invite for LECOM-Erie. Worth going to the interview and at least checking it out or avoid?

Ohio U
Are you IS for OU?Ohio U
I would go to Erie only if you would go to that school if accepted. There are facts about both schools that can help you decided even before visiting Erie. Tuition, location, rotations, etc.
Ohio U
If you're out-of-state for Ohio's DO school, you better have a 518 when applying, because its going to be real difficult to enter a school with a 3% out-of-state acceptance rate.

Ah. Then he's probably in-state then!
I think so too.Ah. Then he's probably in-state then!

Ya, I'd be willing to bet OP is IS. So should be fine. If OP was OOS, then he would have more schools than just LECOM around.
This was complicated very quickly hahaha.Ya, I'd be willing to bet OP is IS. So should be fine. If OP was OOS, then he would have more schools than just LECOM around.
I’m accepted to OU. I plan on attending OU, but would LECOM be worth checking out?

If you research here on SDN there is a lot of info about LECOM. It depends what you prefer about the school.
For example OUCOMs rotations are in the state, while LECOMs all around the countryI would go to Erie for interview only if you would go to that school if accepted. There are facts about both schools that can help you decided even before visiting Erie. Tuition, location, rotations, etc.

I'd personally check out any medical school that was interested in accepting me. Its good to evaluate all your options.

Avoid, it's a waste of money. You wouldn't go to LECOM over Ohio unless you're OOS and that obligation thing to practice in Ohio for 5 years is a problem. If it's not, save your money and time.
As an Ohio resident, I would go to OU over any LECOM 100%.

Money doesnt go on trees bro!

Fair enough. I saved up through working and what-not. Not everyone has that luxury though so I do agree.
Do you like required lecture attendance and dress codes????This was complicated very quickly hahaha.

This should be a non-factor. OU is the far better school resource wise.

No, the only schools I would consider to be worth checking out with an OU acceptance in hand would be MD schools.
The people have spoken and confirmed my original thoughts. Thank ya.
From my interview the positives seem to be:
-Inexpensive
-Good COMLEX 1 scores
-Has a teaching hospital
The students overall didn't seem very enthusiastic about the administration. Most went for cost or geographical convenience.

Important to note that OU’s Cleveland and Dublin campuses also have a dress code! However the pod casted lectures are still a huge benefit.

Wait, are you saying that's a good or bad thing?God forbid schools treat you like adult learners!

True words, and now I totally agree with you.Sarcasm doesn't travel well on the internet, alas.
Its a good school, I just got accepted there. They care a lot about their students and a really laid back interview. They also prepare you very well for boards and have a high residency match rate. They do have a dress code and require attendance to lectures but thats also for your own good. They have 3 different pathways so you don't have to do lectures if you can get into their other pathway.Recently accepted to my #1. Just received an invite for LECOM-Erie. The thread in the school specific forum might be a better place to askGood morning fellows!! does anyone know when LECOM ERIE decision is sent? I interviewed mid-December!

Yet another "Why We All Hate LECOM" thread --- never fails !! 😛
Tell me where I said we all hate LECOM? I said as someone who lives in Ohio, I would always go to my state school over LECOM any day.Yet another "Why We All Hate LECOM" thread --- never fails !! 😛
