Hey folks,

I remember hearing that a few of you were interviewing today(Oct 13th) and I was wondering how it went? I know some of you are interviewing on Oct. 30th. I may have been mistaken...not the first time I assure you.

Oh, and on a side note for anyone who MAY be interviewing at LECOM, a few tidbits:

1) Don't try and enter the building on the side facing the road. That is the door to the atrium and if you mess with it too much(because it's always locked), security will pounce on you. I saw one guy trying to do that today and I wanted to drive over and help him. The only way in is the side FACING the parking lot. If you forget, follow all of the other people in ties and skirts.

2) LECOM has tight ass security, and everyone who wants in the building has to have an ID card to unlock the doors. When you come, just have some student let you in or tap on the glass and the receptionist will buzz you in(yes, I said buzz you in). It freaked me out last year when the door was locked and I thought I was doing something wrong. You're nervous enough the way things are.

3) LECOM's interview is short. I was gone by 12:30pm. Go to the zoo afterward, go downtown, see Presque Isle, see the lake. You'll have plenty of time. Have fun.

Good luck,

Good advice Dr_sax,

Some other advice...sometimes you leave an interview with more questions than when you went, and sometimes the administration may not be able to give you that information. Please utilize this forum to get those questions answered. You can either post, or PM me, and I'd be glad to answer questions you may have.

I've heard that some of the MSII's helping out with the lunches are pushing certain pathways...there is no special pathway that is harder/easier or better/worse than another. LDP works for me, and I know that it's the best choice for me. PBL is great for other people. ISP works for those people able to work under special conditions. Don't let people tell you that because you're in a certain pathway, you're better prepared for the boards, or you're going to kick butt on rotations, or those students are smarter. Please...how old are we? There are good and bad people in each pathway, there are good and bad experiences in each pathway. It's an individual decision. Everyone has it hard--it wouldn't be medical school if it were such a piece of cake.

Good luck. I'll be helping out sporadically with the lunch sessions. Otherwise, utilize this forum to get your questions (whatever they may be) answered.

Thanks for the advice Dr. Sax and njdo.

I'll be there on Nov 10th for the interview. 🙂

I heard that LECOM has a strict dress code....is this true? If so, what is it and how is it enforced? Thanks!

LECOM's dress code is a topic that has been discussed quite a bit on these forums. I will be quick and to the point. If you require details, you can perform a search or PM me.

Yes, there is one. It's business/professional attire for both sexes. It is enforced M-F, 8AM-4:30PM. I use the term enforced loosely.

😛

As if there weren't enough misconceptions about our dress code, Dr. Sax tries to make it seem that we are required to wear BOTH skirts and ties (while in reality, thats only required every other Thursday).

Lets not try to scare the interviewees before they have a chance to be greeted by Inspector Kovacs.

Good Luck on your interviews guys. I like LECOM and I will try to answer any questions you might have. The same can be said for most of the other LECOMers on here. Just PM us.

I interviewed yesterday and everything was very different than I expected, in a good way. Everyone was really nice and were straight forward with any questions that I had and didn't belittle us interviewees. The interview session was much more laid back than I expected. Overall, I really liked the school and I am actually considering placing LECOM above my first choice CCOM, that is if I get accepted. Now I am just crossing my fingers for the next 2-3 weeks.
