Considering they've been done with pre-dec interviews for a while, it makes sense. It is what it is but I don't think a post-dec interview will hurt your acceptance chances considering most people will likely not take a LECOM acceptance because it's a new school.

Here is what I see happening with LECOM and Dec 1st acceptances

1) People will turn down the acceptance for a state school (cheaper!)
2) People will turn down the acceptance for an established program
3) People won't be able to afford the $2000 deposit and will choose another school

Thus, I think January interviews will still serve a very large purpose in filling the class. Good luck!

Here's how I see it going down:

1) LECOM closes its doors for some scandal
2) $2000 deposits received become nonrefundable
3) LECOM changes its name to avoid lawsuits

best what are your stats?

i called the office yesterday and they said post dec invites were being sent out next month

I thought LECOM was legit. I thought it was interesting when the dean basically said FU and left Minnesota's DS for starting the dental therapist program. They have the money, they have the staff, equipment, patients and everything in between. I think it will be a great clinical school, but PBL for natural sciences is not for everyone.

I'm sure the $$$$$ and Florida weather didn't have anything to do with the Dean leaving MN.

I disagree about LECOM having everything in between. There's no way talented and prestigious professors will leave their institution to go teach at LECOM. Thus the faculty will be a bunch of inexperienced wannabes at least for the first 5-7 years.

It's like a new startup company. The initial group of employees are a bunch of unemployed rejects from the Fortune 500 companies who are desperate for any kind of job and willing to take 5 steps backwards so they can make their mortgage payments.

I don't think LECOM will be a bad school. I just think the inaugural class will have to bear with the kinks they are working out.

You're trying to hard...

I just hope I get in because I want to go there after learning more about it. Huge emphasis on bridging the gap for the undeserved, clinical experience, and business management. That's all I want and that's what they are offering fits me like a glove. The med students seemed to really like it and dominate their boards without cramming so it looks like the PBL that the DS will be adopting is already proven and will hit the ground running. And of course there will be a few minor issues but that is just part of the growing pains. And I wasn't a huge fan of the muggy Florida weather but I guess it beats -40 winters.
