Just submitted my application today! Already mailed in LOR and requested transcripts last week so hopefully my application becomes complete soon!
3.52 gpa, 28 mcat, 1.5 yr pre-clinical research, shadowing, clinic volunteer, hospital volunteer, radiology internship, etc.
Why are you doing this program? If you apply early and broadly to AACOMAS then you are gold for many DO schools. Just curious.

I feel that my mcat score isn't competitive enough to be applying to DO schools in addition to that I only have 1 LOR with me, and need to request one from my lab job, and shadowing doctor. I actually did fill out the AACOMAS app when it was released in 2015 but i got scared and backed off. In addition, I feel that this post bac program should be able to prepare me for the rigor of med school.

100% glad I did it. My gpa in the program is a 3.5. Although second semester is much harder haha

Did you receive an interview from LECOM yet for Fall's class?

A 3.5/28 would def get you plenty of love. I personally would not be doing this program w those stats, however, I agree that this is excellent prep for med school (at least the first year of it).

Nice! Did many of your classmates as well? How did it go?!
A majority of us were Tuesday and Wednesday. It's very laid back, interviews are in groups. Although we were all stressed, it wasn't stressful at all. Group interviews lasted 1.5 hours. But the time flies.

Do you know anything about ability to move from Erie to Seton Hill or Bradenton campus if you are lucky enough to attend LECOM's med school after program?

My application was complete last week and the same day changed to "a decision has been made you will receive a letter within 30 days." I emailed Jamie Murphy and he said letters went out that day (Monday 2/1) so I should receive in a day or two. I really hope my app wasn't that bad as to be instantly rejected!! Will be awaiting the mail tomorrow....🤔

I was told this morning by Jamie that they are reviewing files tmrw. My app was complete as of a few days ago.

Does anyone know if MCAT is favored over AIS to get into this program?

I used AIS bc my MCAT score will not be ready until May.

Seton Hill - is pretty easy to get into or so I've been told.
Bradenton - I've been told they only allow 4-6 people per year to go down there. Much harder and Floridians get preference.

From the Post Bacc program?

Yep! From the post bacc

So how would your typical day go by? Are there any classes that cause the most trouble? Is it worth it to be reading up on material prior to starting?

It really depends on who you are. Class is 2-6, rarely goes til 6. I think once or twice it's gone that long. Usually 5ish.
I wake up and watch the news, breakfast, etc. Shower and then go to class. I have classmates who wake up, go straight to the library/coffee shop -- study from 8am-2, class 2-5ish, and then right back to the library/coffee shop until 11pm. And they repeat this every day almost.
I'm more of the crammer. I study the weekend before the tests, maybe a few days prior to that as well - and I have a 3.5. So it truly depends on who you are. If I had put in more effort, I could've gotten a 4.0 for sure - first semester isn't that bad.
Second semester, the anatomy - so far, is brutal and it only just begun. I've taken anatomy before, but this is just a mile a minute - and quite overwhelming. I'd suggest doing anything anatomy related if you can. If you don't, it's not a huge deal. It's kind of hard to prep for anatomy - especially when you don't know how the teachers teach it and how they're going to test you on it.

My advice is aim super high first semester, so that you can have a few screw ups second semester and still be fine. My 3.5 will allow me to have a few screw ups and still be fine. But those who are right around the 3.0 are really sweating this semester I'd bet. I've heard pharmacology is brutal too - but we haven't had a class on that yet.

How's Erie as a city?

Application status changed to "your application is under review" today. Folder items also updated to show LOR, MCAT, and university transcript received. Only problem is that I went to 3 community colleges and sent in those transcripts, but is only showing that my university transcript was received. I also emailed Jamie my resume as requested by the application, is that also supposed to show as "received"?

I think when it says "under review" your application is complete. They didn't show all my materials either as being "received" only a few were noted (and not the resume)

My mom recently moved to Florida to live with my brother. So my whole family is in Bradenton. Thats the reason I applied here really. Does anyone in the program think that will help my chances of getting placed in Bradenton if I do get in, following the PB? Even though I am not a "Florida resident"

Definitely, I believe that as long as you have a reason to be in Florida besides the "I like warm weather" they'll give you first priority. I don't know if grades play a factor in that decision though.

No, mine was "under review" however not complete until the other day when my LoR was received by them

Thanks for such an informative post! I'm looking forward to being completely antisocial and just gunning hard but it sounds like the program is great. Do you find that you utilize your peers for group study seshs? Or is everyone mean and grumpy

Meh.. it's okay. Nothing special. But it isn't like a one street like kind of city. It has more than enough to get by. I'm just used to a bigger city - so I miss the bigger city feel.

Grades do play a huge role in what pathway you're placed into and what campus you're admitted into.

It's up to you. I don't take advantage of group study stuff. If you study early and ahead of time, you'll be able to utilize the study groups or make one with friends. I don't really like that nor need that, but it's entirely up to who you are and how you study.
The students are all nice and willing to work together. There is no curve in the program and they have a seat for everyone in the program - so it's not competitive among the students. If everyone gets above a 3.0, everyone can get in.
Make some friends, and study with them. I know a lot of people that have made a close friend group and they do everything together: workout, go out, study, etc.

Hey guys so I have been getting lots of PMs from prospective post bacc students.
Please be nice to me and other current students in the program. If I don't get back to you within 24 hours, don't be rude. We're here to help you answer questions about the program, but you have to know that we are busy too and aren't on the website every second and every minute of the day.

I just received my acceptance letter!! Ahhh waiting on other schools before I make a decision!! Good luck to everyone applying!! Think positive and good things will happen to you 🙂 !!

What do you mean "pathway"?
Pathway meaning LDP, PBL, DSP, etc.
LDP - Lecture Discussion Pathway -- Only at Erie Campus
PBL - Problem Based Learning - At all 3 campuses. Bradenton and Seton Hill are ONLY PBL.
DSP - Directed Study Pathway - Only at Erie Campus.
From the post bacc, you can only get in DSP with a ~ 3.9 or above. PBL is nearly impossible to get into in Erie from the post bacc. Seton Hill is almost a for sure thing if you decide that (or so I've been told). Bradenton - they only accept 4-6 people. So grades and resident status are key.

**Edit: Oops - didn't see the other person post this same thing!

When were you complete?
What other programs did you apply to?

Accepted! 🤣After so many rejections over the past years I can't believe I get to say that.
Waiting to hear from Georgetown SMP, Drexel, and Temple post baccs.

Awesome Jamienuetton!! Could you share your stats?

My undergrad GPA is sooooo low. It has been holding me back for so long. My math/science GPA is literally a 2.05. I was academically dismissed from my first university because of my GPA after first year of college and I then went to a community college and then transferred to another 4 year college. My overall GPA isn't much better, my college allowed me to replace one of my retakes to get me to a 2.4 to graduate. I retook basically every class at least once before graduating. I have a lot of As and Bs, but they are weighed down by a lot of bad grades as well. I guess I have something of an "upward trend." I did a full thesis masters in Cell & Molecular Bio and have a 3.5 from that. I have a 30 MCAT (old MCAT). But med schools don't seem to care much about my grad school GPA. I have also worked full time in research with publications for a little over a year. I shadowed a DO and have a lot of clinical and non-clinical volunteer time. I obviously have a life story about my academic history (like everyone else) which I won't go into here.

Well congratz man all your hard work is paying off!!!

I am curious what anyone thinks about the usefulness of this post-bacc compared to others in applying to both MD and DO schools after completing it? Does anyone know of people who got into schools outside of LECOM after doing the program?

Looking through older threads about the program I've seen a few people talk about applying to other DO schools because they aren't a fan of LECOM once they get there. From what I've read it seems possible to do. I'm not sure about MD schools though.
