Which should I choose if I KNOW I want to get a good surgical residency? I don't care about tuition, location, expenses...all that can be figured out later. I will probably want to end up in a more urban general surgery residency, most desirably an allopathic residency. Anyone have any thoughts? I have about 12 hours before I have to put a check in the mail. I am soooo lost....😕

Residency all depends on your ability to score well on the USMLE and COMLEX. Not the school itself. The expenses and location are the biggest and most important factors in choosing which school....

Examine each school's clinical affiliations, as well as clinical requirements in 4th year. Some schools make you do a rural FP rotation during 4th year. If you want surgery, that might be a negative in your eyes. Otherwise go to whatever school you will do your best at (ie - be happiest, closest to family, etc..)

yes and no, and the most important factors for residency placement are board scores/grades and rotations. He wants a semi competetitive residency so he would need good board scores as you have mentioned, good grades but rotations are also very important. so the most important factors imo would be rotations/expenses/locations. to the OP look for a school that has awsome clinicals.

yup

compare the elective rotations offered by all three schools (to be sure youll be able to do audition rotations at the surgical programs of your choice) and how well they prepare students for the boards
