The guidelines say "Limit your response to this space" and provides a box. However, if you keep typing, the scroll bar moves and you can lengthen your answer indefinitely. I called to verify and they want it such that it fits into the box with no scrolling. I was given a guide of 300 words or 800 characters. Hope that helps some.

Perfect! Thanks so much 👍 👍 👍

I can guarentee that box holds alot more than 800 characters. Its going to be hellsa tough to include EVERYTHING they expect from the "why northwestern question" in a space just a little bit bigger than our post-secondary experience descriptions.

That does help - thanks! I think 300 words is generally WAY more than 800 characters (unless they want us to use very little words🙂), but I'll stick to the box approach. Thank you!

I agree. Just relating what I was told. 😉

I got about 1100 characters on the box.

Can anyone post the essay topics, it would really help with the time crunch they're putting on us. Thanks.

By the way how long after you were processed did you recieve your sec. i was processed this past tues. Thanks again.

pyra posted them in the big thread, and here they are again. i think about 1100 characters each:
Essay #1:
We want to know more about how you came to the decision to pursue a career in medicine. If you believe your AMCAS application's "Personal Comments" essay answers this question, tell us anything more you'd like the Committee on Admissions to know about you and your career aspirations. (Limit your response to this space.)

* Essay #2: 1500 characters
Why do you want to attend Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine? In your answer to this question, include a direct response to the following points:
a. Describe what you have learned about our collaborative curriculum (especially the PBL and PPS segments) and why it influenced you to apply. Also comment on what you feel you can contribute to these sessions.
b. In what ways does FSM's "organ-based" approach suit your learning style? How will this approach help you learn what you need to know to be a successful physician?
c. Comment on any other specific factors that prompted you to apply to Feinberg.
(Limit your response to this space.)

* Essay #3:
Please select a), b), or c) to answer:
a. If, by the time you enter medical school, you have not been (or, will not have been) enrolled as a full-time student in a formal education program for more than 6 months at any time, please list the dates below and describe what you did (or, will be doing) during your time away from formal education.

b. If you have been enrolled in formal education and have spent a semester or more overseas, please describe what you did and its influence on your personal development.

c. If you have been enrolled in formal education but option b) does not apply to you, please describe in detail an out-of-the-classroom activity that has influenced your personal development.
