Length of PS

I'm at about 5300 characters but I've had a few people (med students+residents) suggest that I try to shorten my PS by about a paragraph (500-1000 characters) because adcoms/interviewers have to read a lot personal statements and they said I want mine to be short enough for them to get through

Is it a problem to use all 5300? Did AMCAS change recently because both wanted me to get my PS on about one page

The limit would not be 5300 if that was too long. You should be good.
