Tough call between MICU and SICU, but I'd say SICU wins at most of the hospitals I've been through. Can't go wrong with either, though.

You would be wrong...

In general, it's going to be any ICU - SICU, MICU, PICU.

Why? Because young, motivated nurses who want to go on to bigger things (CRNA for example - where you have to have a minimum of 1 year ICU experience prior to applying) take these jobs in disproportionate numbers.

Higher # of younger nurses = more attractive group as a whole.

ICUs, EDs, and peds departments in hospitals that take mostly private insurance patients have the most attractive nursing staff from my experience. The key though is that the hospital must be a nice institution that takes wealthier patients. Not judging. It is what it is.

I totally agree.

Our peds floor was filled with young single girls who just wanted to play with children. Of course that also meant that they were on the lookout for a "rich doctor" to marry so they could quit their jobs.

I've heard the SICU at my hospital has a nurse who looks like a porn star. Probably not the best compliment, but the report is no less than 3 women have pretty obvious augmentation.

Def agree w/ OR nurses being the worst. Most are tea-kettle shaped, ie short and fat, (I blame them for the terrible proportions of hospital scrubs), and for the rare one w/ a decent body, it's a shocker when you see them sans the face mask.

Interestingly, I have had the opposite experience. I find that the operating room and emergency room nurses tend to be much slimmer than the older nurses on the MedSurg units.

Obese nurses seem to outnumber even moderate weight nurses 10 to 1 at literally 10 or so large hospital systems I've rotated at. Probably a little less in ER or OR but only because they have less time to "stress eat." Even when I think....think...I see a true babe, I know to immediately head for some coffee as clearly I'm on the brink. Frankly, I can honestly say I have never, ever, in my life, seen an absolutely smoking nurse. Never. The dream lives on however....somewhere out there....there has to be one.

Yes, I have impeccably high standards.
