I've declined Ohio and Michigan and took my name off of the Wisconsin waitlist.

And WildZooVet... I know for an absolute fact that my friend is declining her seat at Davis.

Thank you for letting me know!! Maybe there is hope. They should have an "oh please...oh please smilie"

I declined my OOS spot at UF. It was a tough decision because I really loved Florida when I interviewed. In the end though, the program and the people at UGA won out. I really felt great about my decision after attending the open house and meeting and talking with a lot of the current students. When I mailed my acceptance to UGA, I had it all ready in the envelope, but went back to my apartment and checked it again because I was SURE that I had checked the wrong box! Had to get another envelope and stamp!!
Good luck to everyone on the wait list. Hopefully it will move swiftly and deeply!! 🙂

That is so something I would do:laugh:

Skillet, I have SUCH a hard time declining! I want to go everywhere that has accepted me because if they believe in me that is enough for me to reallly like them 😀. Its like, even though I have known in my heart that I wouldnt be going to RVC once I was accepted to Western and UTK, I have had a very difficult time just saying "no thank you" EVEN THOUGH I SINCERELY want this spot to go to someone else who wants it just as much as I did.

Bunnyslippers that is a very good point too. I can say without a doubt we HAVE worked hard to get here and that makes it tough too!

I have officially chosen Colorado State University because I was accepted into their Vet Prep program and will be guaranteed an in-state tuition spot to their class of 2014 (just as long as I don't screw up a 12 unit undergrad course load and pass with a 3.0 GPA).

I too had a hard time declining my acceptances to Minnesota and Western because I felt so honored to be accepted. I am taking a risk because I am declining a for-sure acceptance to a more-than-likely acceptance. I think I made the right choice for me.

Have you been out of school for a while? Is that why you chose the vet prep? Or is it just because of the tuition?

And if it's just because of the tuition... why did you apply to their vet prep program instead of their vet school?

The Vet prep is the same application as applying to the school. If anyone filled out the section on the supplemental for disadvantages or something like that you were automatically making yourself eligible for the program but you had to apply the to the regular program first.

Yes, what he said.🙂

I was rejected by Colorado for the 2009 cycle and did not expect to be invited to their Vet Prep program. I thought my only choices were to be between Minnesota or Western.

Interesting. So you didn't specifically ask for the vet prep program... they just offered it to you after rejecting you from the school.

By filling out the "disadvantages" section on the supplemental application for CSU, you make yourself eligible for this program. I guess it would be nice if they let you know you were accepted for the alternate program at the same time as the vet program, but hey. 🙂

Welp, its official, I have sent in my decline to UTK and will be heading to Western!!! It was the toughest decision ever! I hope someone waiting for an OOS spot hears something great soon!! 🙂

Hey, I'm a bit new to this site, and I don't know if this helps, but I'm an alternate at Cornell and Ohio and am planning on withdrawing my name from the waitlists at both schools. I wasn't given a ranking at Cornell, and I'm not quite sure what original number I was at Ohio. I never got my official letter (after weeks of waiting, the agony!) and when I called the first time, I was told I was #26. Then, when I called two days later to verify that my letter was indeed not coming, I was told I was #24 and declined to have the letter sent again (which was probably a mistake in retrospect).

Okay!!!.. my phone can ring any time now!! Thanks a lot!!!

OK so.. got a call from Oklahoma today!!! Does anyone remember me talking about my luck and how I would be in the bathroom when they called.. yup.. I was.. not on the toilet, but buck naked just outta the shower!!!

I'm declining an international seat at AVC (UPEI) and taking myself off the alternate list at UTK.

Hope this helps :luck:

Congrats!! (Did you manage not to tell them you were buck naked??)

I chickened out and didnt answer... lol.. I let it go to voicemail... Im a wus!

Probably wise. The only time I ever leapt for the phone straight out of the shower, I fumbled and, promptly after opening it, shot it across the room. It very nearly went in the toilet. VERY nearly.

That would have been a hilarious story later, but maybe not the best way to answer an acceptance call!

:laugh::laugh: You guys are hilarious! I can totally picture it.:laugh::laugh:

I really HAVE dropped a phone in the toilet. It was an expensive toilet, though - Sak's Fifth Avenue. And, uh... the phone still worked afterwords... I grabbed it pretty quick before the gross factor hit. And I used it for like a year after that. Lol.

Since we are exchanging gross toilet stories... I dropped my first expensive watch into a toilet (a present from dad). Yeah, I grabbed it! !!!And now I don't wear a watch anymore... 😉

Wait just realized you said you used it for a year afterwards. LOL

Hahaha. I did. I drenched it with Lysol. No liquid got inside (the air must have made a bubble and kept the water out?) so I cleaned the surface like crazy. I just had to wrap it in paper towels and put it in my purse until I got home... eew. Haha. It was a brand new $150 phone... so yeah. 😀

Hey, no I totally get it! I wore the watch dad gave me too... just haven't worn one since, that's all... lol.

We're on a total tangent. Weird how fun toilet humor is for everyone.

Can't be anywhere near as funny as what my two friends heard in the bathroom that day. I went to put on my coat (phone in pocket) and in it went (PLOONK) and then in I went after it (splash!) and then... I'm standing there with my wet phone in my wet hand... and then I went, "AUUUUUUGHHHHEEEWWWWWWUHH!" and ran out to the counter. When they figured out what had happened, well... I think we probably made the sales lady wonder WTF was going on.

So yeah, it WAS funny.

I think (aside from not getting in at all, of course) that is a person who is on the wait lists worst nightmare. Can you imagine packing up and moving to a state across the country with your family in a days notice only to arrive and have missed orientation and the first two crucial days of classes? I know you guys are all as nerdy as I am.. Can you imagine missing "syllabi day?"

No, absolutely not! Syllabi day is a must attend. It lays out your whole semester. I am WAY too type A to miss that day.

I feel for everyone stuck in waitlist limbo. I plan, coordinate, research and plan again. To not know would drive me insane!
