if i'm attaching a letter to the secondary, do i need to follow the business format of writing a letter. specifically, putting my address, date, and the school's address on the top of teh page before I write Dear admissions committee?

Yes. formal business writing.

you might want to address your letter to the director of admissions instead of a generic "dear admissions commitee." The contact name should be in the MSAR.
