So I got an email from Loma Linda today. It basically said "Thanks for your interest in Loma Linda! You will be hearing from us soon! We look forward to seeing you here!"

The thing is, I've already been rejected by Loma Linda. So what the heck is this about?

I know at least one other person that got the same letter today who already got rejected. Anyone else get this letter?

That email was sent by university's admissions dept, not the school of dentistry. I think it's a way for all applicants of the university to ask questions about the school. They probably aren't aware of the actual status of your dental application.

Yeah, I got it today too and I withdrew my application.

I got the letter too via email. Was in the junk mail folder lol. I'm interviewing with them in Oct. though.

I applied last year, didn't apply to them this time around; still got the letter

Hahaha, it got me a tad freaked out, I was on the wait list, and I just finished my first month at Pitt, and I'm like, NOW THEY LET ME IN???? Haha, yeah, probably just an automatic thing from filling out the secondary on their website.

I want to withdraw my application from few schools. How do you do it? It is just send email or, there is a form I have to fill?
Cheers

I never got the "thanks!" email but I was also rejected a few days ago...

I loved Loma Linda's rejection letter. Most schools try to soften the blow by saying how many "qualified applicants" they have to go through, but Loma Linda just says you aren't "competitive enough". They don't mind telling you that you aren't good enough for their school.

I know, seriously! What a downer...

Also, this is kind of random, and not related to this thread, but I just looked at your predents profile and realized that I will probably see you at the UNLV interview tomorrow.

So I emailed them asking what was up with the letter and this is the response I got:

Thank you very much for your response. We are very sorry that you received the recent email regarding your interest in Loma Linda University. The email is meant for prospective students inquiring about our school; however, there was an error in our system and we are currently working on correcting this. Again, we’re very sorry for the confusion and please let us know if you have any questions. Have a wonderful day.

I'm not sure I really believe that because of all the responses in this thread from people who got the same letter in different situations. More likely they just get a big list with the names of people that have applied there in the recent past and just email it en mass. But whatever. I thought it was funny.

Now you all have me freaked out! is LLUSD THAT difficult to get into? It's my first choice and I was think that because I'm highly spiritual, if I did fairly well in pre-dent studies that I'd have a good shot. But now I'm think it's more difficult than that..

Welcome to SDN! Don't worry about how hard it is to get in yet. You still have a long road ahead of you. Keep your head up, do well on the DAT, and get in your volunteer work and you will have options. From my personal experience with LLUSD I would say that it is hard to get into. I have a 3.6 with almost a 4.0 the last two years of my undergrad while taking a ton of upper level bio and chem classes and I got a 20 on the DAT. I am very religious, I go to church every Sunday and have responsibilities there. I have a ton of volunteer hours. I think it is also important to mention I am not SDA which may or may not have had an impact. LLUSD secondary application was intense and took several hours to fill out plus you needed additional LOR's from professors and ecclesiastical leader who have to answer questions asking about your spirituality and worthiness. I submitted it and had good LOR's and I was rejected 1 month later. I guess I wasn't what they were looking for. Hope that helps!

Be very involved with your school and community as well as your church. I had countless hours observing and actually working as an assistant on mission trips through LLUSD. It doesen't hurt you to get a foot in and actually ask to help at the school; I was able to meet and work with many people there and I know some of them were even on the admission committe .. I start in the fall 😉
