Letter from Marquette (HOLD)

Did anyone else get a letter from Marquette saying that:

"The committee has decided to "HOLD" making a decision on your application at this time in the process. While both offers of admission and denials have been made at this point, your application will remain active in our applicant pool."
I have yet to interview there, anyone else in the same position? any thoughts?

Yea, I got that too. Prepare for a rejection in early February. I'm not withdrawing cause I want to make them take the time and effort to mail me a rejection letter. I'm immature 😀.

Even though I'm instate and basically have .000000001% chance of making it (since most if not all instate accepted people will not decline), I'm still going to wait as well. If I somehow get in it would be hard to decline just from a financial standpoint.

Haha! I got that letter too! I don't really care because I got 4 acceptances on Dec 1st and Marquette is not exactly a top choice for me...

Yeah Creighton was the same way, they didn't say anything and my interview was back in October!

I can see why some might assume the worst. It seems from other posts that Marquette is basically done handing out acceptances/interviews.

From Marquettes website:

"...We also sent letters to the vast majority of our applicant pool this week. Some of those were denial letters, and some were what we refer to as "hold" letters. If you received a hold letter, that means that you are in an unranked pool of applicants that the Committee will continue to re-review as the process continues to unfold and it becomes clearer to us how many spaces we still need to fill. If you have interviewed already and are currently on hold, you are in the best position you can be in with regard to potentially receiving an offer of admission in our next round of offers. If you have not been interviewed and are on hold, the possibility exists that you could be invited for a spring interview should we choose to conduct additional interviews."

Guess they just hold on to our apps to cover their butts incase they need more students lol...

That's exactly what's on my mind. Feels like they are pointing a gun and want to shoot, but just because it's fun they won't for another couple of months!!!!!! that's the glass half empty
the glass half full: we all have a very slim chance of getting an interview!

I had my AADSAS status changed to what the OP had written on Dec 1. Yesterday I got the rejection letter from Marquette saying that I was not selected for the alternative class interview. I was really hoping to go there.

I didn't interview. I am an out of state applicant. I'm actually a Canadian Student studying in Canada
