So im wondering about the cutoff for lowest grade med schools will take.. a lot of websites say... no grade lower than a C, does that include the C-? or does someone with a C- have to retake the course..

i should add, i know getting Cs is definitely not working to get into med school, let alone a C-, but it was like those one horrid smster things during freshmen year..i've done substantially better since then in my courses..

IMO, C in a science prereq = retake

Not because you have to, but because it looks kinda bad.

You can have a F your freshman year as long as you make straight A's from there on out. There's no cut off. It's your GPA and your trend that matter. And your ECs.

👎 not true some schools require a minimum of a C for pre-reqs

i guess what i mean is what course grade would be acceptable without a retake.. i know you can still do with Ds and Fs but you would have mandatory retakes no?

I'm pretty sure that's all schools. But that wasn't the OP's question. If you need it for a pre-req, of course you need to retake it. But if it was freshman western history, you could probably get by. Just don't repeat it.

Some schools will take a C-, but I would recommend retaking if you want to get into an allopathic school. I had a C- in O Chem and got into a great Osteopathic school, but I think that one of the reasons I was denied at allo schools is because of that C- (even the ones who said c-=c).

How come you didn't retake it? DO school allows replacement grades does it not?

I could have, but I got into my first choice school... so why would I bother?
