Still haven’t heard from anywhere and I’m starting to get desperate.

Has anyone ever written a letter to a school asking/informing them why they should give them an interview?

Bad/good idea...?

Have you contacted them at all? Email or phone call?

Also, mind sharing your stats and etc?

New York Resident, went to Penn State for undergrad.
3.3 GPA, ~3.0 sGPA
17 AA for DAT
Have been working for an orthodontist as an assistant on and off for about 8 years (started when I was 15). Totals 5000+ hours. Still currently working here.
Worked as a dental assistant for a family dentist for about 500 hours for about a year.
Did the Discover Dental School program through Stony Brook.

I know DAT is low (plan on retaking I’m near future) and my GPA isn’t the highest, however, I have so much experience. I applied to 12 schools, denied from Temple and LECOM.

I’ve been in contact with NYU

You probably need to retake to your DAT and apply again next cycle

Wow, thank you for sharing the obvious! That is the plan if I don’t get accepted for 2018-2019. However, I’m trying to do everything possible for this cycle. Not giving up until I have 12 rejections
He was giving you honest advice, no need to be rude. Your DAT and your GPA are low. Experiences won't outweigh that low of a GPA and DAT.

You can try to get an interview this cycle, but I'd focus all my energy on crushing the DAT and maybe even some post-bacc classes to get your science GPA up. Experiences are great, but you can't just be experienced to be a good candidate for dental school. You have to be academically ready for dental school

I was not trying to be rude, sorry @Ktrue3!
