There are a couple of schools that I would love to go to, and they won't be sending out any decisions until late March. What should I do to let them know they are my number one preference?

I heard earlier people had suggested writing a letter of interest/intent. What would I write in one, except obviously that I want to go that school.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

a naked photo with a couple of benjamins?

well, you should not tell >1 should that they are your number one preference. imagine how they would feel if they heard from another ad comm that you did this.

you basically can write whatever you want, there is no specfied format or anything. i'm pretty sure that if you write a letter of intent you are obligated to go though if you get in. i've done this already bc i was sure of my first choice.

Run a search on this topic. There have been at least 5 or 6 threads on this during the past month.

In my opinion, LOIs do little to nothing to boost your acceptance. It's not like the adcoms are going to go "We were going to reject him but now let's let him in. After all, his letter was so nice and we're his first choice. "

Whatever you write in there probably wont make a bit of difference, sorry to say.

Best of luck though!

That's a very extreme and negative way of looking at LOI's. I believe that LOI's perhaps do make a small difference. I agree with you on the fact that they probably dont make a big difference. But the fact that you completely put it off as worthless is nonesense. LOI if nothing at all at least show your enthusiasm and could reflect a lot more that can be appealing to the adcoms. However, that goes for really good LOI's. bottom line: It wont hurt so why not!!

Definetly write one if you get waitlisted. Schools like Gtown only accept applicants who submit letters from their waitlist.

Maybe you can modify one of those "why i want to attend school X" secondary essay and send it off as your LOI.

Didn't mean to totally diminish the fact that it MAY do something to help. I just didn't want anyone thinking this was going to be their saving grace, that's all.

A few weeks ago, someone who supposedly was on an ADCOM stated that LOIs are stored in the trash can.

yea, and those someone from adcoms are more likely trolls !!

I talked to several people in regards to this including 3 schools and all disagree with your statement.
