Any suggestions on how to write a letter of interest or have a template? Im uncertain on how to start it

Dear xxx School of Dental Medicine Admissions Committee,

State why you are good fit to the specific program and add if you have anything to add.
Do not write too much. Short but on point.
I do not recommend sending the letter of interest though.
Maybe email what other things you can do while you wait to make yourself more competitive applicant.

I have been in contact with an admissions worker at the school I am interested in. Do you think I should email him directly or upload it to the portal? Its short and simple and I asked what else I could do to make myself more competitive.

Email him about what? New stuff?
I would do both. Upload it to the portal and send additional experiences.
