I received a "continued consideration/final decision not ready" correspondence yesterday from a school I interviewed at. In the correspondence, they mention submitting update letters or letters of interest in the portal (felt like a hint kinda?). I interview in January and submitted a letter with meaningful updates/letter of interest. components in February.

IMO I feel sending a letter of interest with no new updates now would be too much and would just be more of a love letter, but I am happy to play the game if recommended. Curious on others thoughts and what any adcoms think. Thanks in advance!

Mr Smile, I have read the LOI SDN article😉

It's up to you. An LOI won't shift your outcome dramatically - which is generally why we recommend you save those for waitlist, but if you want to, go for it.

If this is a school you want to matriculate into, you should craft an LOI that directly states you will do so if given an accepted. It is alright to reference your previous updates that you sent in other letters. It is also alright to wait for them to give you a WL or A decision, and write a letter of intent at that time if you are waitlisted. They WILL read your update letter if they have not done so already, so do NOT feel pressured to send another update letter that does not include more meaningful updates. It is perfectly acceptable to write them a letter that says you received the admissions update and are still very interested (but not a letter of intent) at this time.
