I have applied MD/PhD and I am wondering if sending a letter of interest with some updates in it is worth it at this point, or if it will annoy adcoms. I am also considering sending one to schools I interviewed with but have not heard back from.

Since applying I have completed some course work with high grades, enrolled in my last pre-req I need to finish, had an abstract accepted for an oral presentation, and begun training new volunteers at a free clinic I previously wrote about. I already have a good gpa and several poster presentations, so I am not sure if schools will really care about these updates.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Waste of time if you haven't had any interviews.

To be clear- do you mean these letters would be helpful for schools I have interviewed with but have not heard back from? Thank you!

What did the admissions staff tell you about sending such letters? Suggestions from Physician Scientists forum?

Switching to MD only, I lean no on an update. You have been interviewed so I don't think these metrics will change your fate. Until you get 200 hours of experience with your new free clinic opportunity, it's just a reason for admissions staff to say "shouldn't we wait until the applicant can really reflect on this experience?" Posters don't move the needle if you are MD/PHD.

Not helpful right now for MD/PhD.
