Hey everybody,

I am applying this cycle and taking my MCAT in 2 weeks :scared:. Most of my letter writers are currently working on their letters. I have a teacher who has offered to write me a letter but she is out of the country. She wants to submit it electronically. I really think this will be a great letter.

I am currently using my school's letter of reference service (UCLA) but they only accept letters that are mailed to them (as far as I can tell).
Question:
How can my letter writer submit their letter electronically in the easiest possible way for both of us and still be able to send it to M.D. and D.O. schools?

I assume I will tell her to write it on an official letterhead (hopefully she has one with her) and then she would probably scan it or something? I briefly saw that AAMC may allow this directly but it doesn't seem to be very flexible. I am not sure.

Please let me know what worked the easiest for you and for you letter writers. I am running out of time for studying and can't spend the day searching for the answer.

I am off to study at the library and trust you all to give me a hand.

Thanks so much!!!

Make sure your letter writers include a signature! You may have to have them print it and send it by mail, but some schools do require a signature for it to be valid.

I'm having half my letter writers resend their letters by mail after submitting electronically for this reason, so do it right the first time to avoid the hassle.

Check out FAQ #7 on this page -

http://www.aamc.org/students/amcas/faq/amcaslettersfaq.htm

Since you're applying to MD and DO schools, it might be best to have her send the letter to interfolio electronically. For your MD schools, you can then deliver the letter from Interfolio to your AMCAS application and your school will deliver the rest of your letters to AMCAS (presumably) using VirtualEvals. This will cost you some money (to sign up for Interfolio's service and to send the letter), but it's better than nothing.

So it looks like interfolio is the best option? Does everyone else agree?

How can I do this so they don't have to mail anything in? Shouldn't it be in a scan or something or are they supposed to copy and paste it from Microsoft word? It has to be on a letterhead right?
