hi all,

I know a MD and a DO because they're my mom's doctors but don't know which one to ask for letter of recommendation.

I don't talk to the DO about my intention to attend medical school so he doesn't know me personally. And for the MD, he know me better.

Do yall think it's better to get it from MD since he know me more, or just
get it from DO because DO school highly recommend letter from DO.

And i think it's kind of late to shadow the DO.

any advice would be appreciated.

thanks,

This will depend on the schools to which you are applying. Some schools require a LOR from a DO while others only require a physician LOR. I am only applying DO and was fortunate enough to get a LOR from both a DO and an MD. If it wouldn't be to hard for you, I'd suggest building a relationship of trust with the DO sufficient to have him/her write a letter for you and also get the letter from you MD friend. Either way, best of luck. :luck:

I got a letter from a DO. But she may write two letters, one to the MD schools than another for the DO that has a sentence or two about osteopathic medicine and myself - yada yada. Thought that would be a good way to use it for both schools. 😳
