Letter of Recommendation from freshman year?

I graduated from college this summer and will be applying to medical school in June 2016. My research PI from freshman year wrote me a letter of recommendation about the psych research I did (in 2012). Would it still be a good idea to use this as a letter of rec for med schools even though it was a few years ago?

It's fine as long as you also have more recent letters

Exactly what the dinosaur said. It's fine as long as you have more recent letters, at least 2 from professors who have taught you in a science class.

its fine, just have him keep it on file and then you can decide whether you want to use it later or not.
