So I interviewed at a school that after the interview I decided was not for me. I just wouldn't be sucessful there. I want to send a letter to the school notifying them that I wont be matriculating. I think that's the fairest thing to do considering someone else might really want to go there. But how do I word it....I dont want to say "I regret to inform you" that just seems like something a med school would send in to an applicant that didnt get in, not vice versa. Any ideas on how to word it?

why dont you wait until after they inform you of their decision....then if they accept you, just respectfully decline the offer of acceptance.

Oh sorry, I left that part out. They did accept me. But do I call or send a letter?

I would just say something like, "I appreciate your time and consideration, but I have decided to matriculate at another school. Thank you for the opportunity to visit," something like that. Short and sweet.

Thank you for the opportunity at school XXXX. Unfortunately I will be declining the offer of acceptance.

Tell them you decline because you want to retake the MCAT. Seriously.

say something like:

"Thank you for the opportunity at school XXXX. Unfortunately I will be declining the offer of acceptance. Please offer my admission to cee."

😀

Just send them a quick message over facebook like my last girlfriend. 😴

Take a med school rejection letter, and everytime it says your name, insert their name instead :meanie:

Don't they have a form for you to send in as to whether your accept or decline the position? If so, filling out the pertinent section of the form should suffice.

There wasnt a form like this in the letter. They just wanted me to send back a deposit. If they would have included one it would have been much better!

Then I would follow the suggested format of one of the previous posters. Sound grateful, use humility. 🙂

Dear (insert adcom or school name here),

Thank you for your interest in my application. After reviewing your curriculum, board pass rates, and residency match lists, my committee has decided to put your file in the "qualified" status, but will not be electing to commit to your school at this point in time.

Please inform me of any changes to your curriculum, awards won, changes in rotations, or new residency match lists as I continue to review offers. I will, upon receipt of these items, review your offer at that time to consider it for approval.

Again, thank you for your interest in my application and best of luck in your future endeavors..

Sincerely,

Applicant

🙂

Not quite a withdrawal, but definitely not a committment. 🙂

I needed to have some fun!
