has anyone ever written a letter of support for a professor for tenure review? I got to write one recently for a physician that I worked with last summer, it was really strange, as a student, writing a letter of recommendation for a professor. It was a lot of fun though, he gave me his CV, a personal statement, and several of his papers.

Yes I wrote two letters for professors during my second year of med school. They did not give me any materials as they did not know I was writing in support of them. They did come by afterwards to thank me though.
