Hey SDN,

I have a few letters that were written last year in May. I've tried contacting my professors for a while now to update them (they said they would back when I saw them), however I haven't gotten a response. I'd imagine all the changes to university structure have them swamped. I'm also quite far from my university now, so going there in person isn't an option. Is it okay to submit letters of recommendation that are a year old/not quite updated with my recent hours/activities to MD schools? Thanks!

All of my letters except for 1 were about a year old! I think as long as you have at least one letter that has an updated date (maybe from a PI or boss or something like that?) you should be okay 🙂 at least this was my own personal experience!

I also used my schools premed committee letter packet service though so I’m not sure if that made a difference...

Thanks for letting me know! Our school doesn't have a premed committee, but only 2 of my letters may not be updated (both from science prof.s). I guess I'll continue trying to reach out but no real harm done if I can't get the updated versions.

I Had two letters that were 3 years and 4 years old. My cycle ended up ok. I had 3 current letters tho.
