Update letters now?

Hey guys

I recently just got a manuscript accepted. Is it a good idea to send an update letter right now, given that all the schools im waiting on will release acceptance decisions next week? Unsure if it is better to send now or wait until after decisions because schools may have already made up their mind about me.

Thx
You can certainly try, but I'm betting atp most of those accept/waitlist/reject results are likely baked in, and unless it's a significant manuscript I don't think your odds will change much.

Yes, interviews for them were done a while ago. I’m mainly wondering if it’s better to send now or wait for a waitlist then send.
If you have already interviewed, theres no way to know where in the selection process these schools are at as of this point in the process. You will have to send another LOI if you get waitlisted regardless, so if you want to send one this week and hope that it is seen by the admissions committee, you are more than welcome to. However, you MUST send a letter if you are waitlisted designating that you WILL attend their medical school if offered admission so that they prioritize your application. It is also worth noting that publishing a manuscript is a wonderful milestone, but it will not make or break your candidacy for a medical program at this stage. What is more powerful and a better tool is your intent to matriculate and your ability to frame your interest in the program of your choice.
