Hi I had a quick question about letters of rec. If I wanted to apply to both DO schools and Post-Bacc schools to cover my bases in case the DO thing doesn't work, how do I work the letters of rec? When I ask my professor I would definitely tell them my situation and what I plan to do, but does that mean that they need to write 2 letters of rec (one for the post-bac and one for the DO?) or just one, but keep it general?

I applied to medical school first, 2 application cycles in fact, and used the same letters to apply to my post-bacc programs. Mine seem to be general so it really shouldn't matter... It all depends on who is writing the letter and what they say about you. Ultimately your goal is medical school anway so they should work. Hope this helps. 😀

Thanks! That did! This site is great! But I have another quick question. So it didn't matter how long ago you had gotten you letters of rec?

Technically, I don't think it matters, meaning I don't think there is a requirement. However, I would keep them *fairly* up to date. If you graduated from undergrad more than 4 or 5 years ago, I wouldn't use the same letters that they wrote when you were about ready to graduate. I graduated from undergrad in 2004 and I'm still using those letters. Then hopefully if you get into a post grad program or do some medical related job, you can use those as references. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else! 🙂
