Letters of Rec Delaying Secondaries?

Hey everyone, I have been filling out and submitting secondaries, but it sucks that it doesn't mean anything to submit a secondary until letters of rec are in to complete your file. After reading up on SDN it seems like a lot of people have already submitted letters of rec and completed their applications. But my letter writers are supposed to complete the letters within then next two weeks. Am I falling behind, should I ask my letter writers to complete it sooner, or am I just worrying unnecessarily? Pretty much everything is done for most of my secondaries, I'm just waiting on letters of rec.

my school says the committee letters will be sent "by sept 19th".

Just make sure to remind your letter writers (assuming you haven't already). Just a polite email or communication.

After that, the only thing you can do is just wait and be ready to complete all your secondaries the second your letters get sent. You are still have sufficient time.

I'm sort of in the same boat as OP. Although 4/5 letters have come in I'm still waiting for the last one. As for the secondaries I'm completing and submitting those that have come out so I won't get overwhelmed later in August. Remember that those that get interview invites actually schedule for Late August-October, so I'm not too worried yet.

What if we only want to assign LOR for certain schools for now (since some schools haven't sent out secondaries yet)? Would I just assign the letters on AMCAS for select schools, re-submit, and leave other schools blank until the secondaries come out?

Also, would it be okay to submit a secondary application first and then send out the LOR later? I am still waiting for a few LOR as well. Thanks!

Did your committee letter application/papers arrive before the priority deadline?

Priority - these are the first committee letters that are finished and uploaded in the beginning of August.

Regular - First come, first serve.

1) You can do that. That's fine.

2) You can do that. Some secondary applications require you to indicate how you are meeting their LOR requirements by listing their names and positions, so you'd need to commit at that point, but the schools do not have to have the letters in their possession when you submit your secondaries.

As everyone has said, no need to worry too much at this point.

Many people have Committee Letters they are waiting on which get sent out throughout the summer.

Just make sure that your writers get them in when they said they would, and there should be few problems.

AND DEFINITELY complete your secondaries as soon as you can. Just turn them in. That way, they won't build up and the school will be ready to process your app right when they receive your letters.

Schools will send the secondaries out whether they have your letters or not. They just won't review your app until everything is there (primary, secondary, and letters).

Has anyone's letters been processed recently? My letter-writer told me she submitted on Wednesday; hopefully its marked as received by AMCAS in the next week...

Only a handful of schools will invite you to complete their secondary before your primary is verified. The vast majority will not; you will have to wait for verification.

ahh screw that, I'm really thinking of skipping the committee letter, because I've known many ppl who didn't have a problem without it.

No it's still considered early, and people have been fine being complete in aug-sep
