I am an applicant in this cycle. I just finished up my undergrad in May, and I'm starting a 1 year MHS (masters of health science) in late August. It's a one year program...

I was just working on secondaries for Tulane and SUNY Upstate and noticed that they need letters of rec from a graduate advisor or professor? Do I really need to get these considering that my advisor and professors certainly don't know me yet seeing as how I haven't even started the program?

Eeek so confusing!

Call the schools. They typically want these letters as proof your graduate program knows of your intent to enroll in medical school, etc. You should meet with your advisor or the department chair very soon so they start to get to know you!

Definitely call the schools to be sure. Some med schools will definitely require a grad advisor or other related LOR. Other schools are more flexible. But since you are probably doing well there anyway, you should be Ok. Just get to know some professors/your advisor better so they can write you a good one.
