Hi everyone. I have yet another dumb question. If the professors send in my their letters of rec after I've submitted my application, will AADSAS have already forwarded my application on to the schools to which I applied? Or do they wait until they have recieved all of your letters before they will forward you application to the schools?

I'm a little worried because one of my professors isn't being very timely.
Thanks!

Hey umc,

I believe that AADSAS waits until they receive all of your letters before sending out you application. I got a call last year because my teacher's envelope didn't have the letter in it (my suspicion is that AADSAS lost it because the teacher is sooo responsible) and they were waiting for that before sending out my application.

However, you're applying soo early that it should not really be an issue unless the recommendor waits until September. Good luck and don't stress. 🙂

I spoke to an admissions counselor at one of the dental schools I am applying to. They informed me that AADSAS will forward your processed application as received. If a letter or transcript is submitted after initial processing, AADSAS will forward a photocopy of the document to each school you are applying to. 🙂

Then I guess I am wrong. 😳 Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about a matter of a few days or a couple weeks at this point in the application cycle.

do you guys know if adcoms will review and grant interviews w/o having all the lor's? thanks!

Committees, usually like to have everything in your file before they make there ruling, but there are some individuals on SDN that got interviews without a DAT score, but have not heard of any without LR.
If its possible, I would circumvent AADSA and have your professor send the letters directly to the school and AADSA, just in case one loses one. (backup)

Hi. I was wondering if my fellow pre-dents can provide some advice on how I should seek out letters of recommendations once you've been out of school for 5 years, and have been working ever since. I attended SUNY Buffalo, and it's about a 7-8 hour drive from where I reside, so it's not a place that's around the corner. Thanks for the feedback.

This was an issue for me as well, since I graduated in 1996 with 2 bachelor degrees. So, my LOR's include three from science professors (classes that I took recently, like last Fall, last Spring), one from my former employer and one from a dentist that works in a free dental clinic. Hope this helps. Basically I found out that instead of having a letter from a non-science, I could replace it with one from my former employer.

Thanks for the advice wimmcs. I've been out of school for many years, and will be taking a graduate level class in biology beginning next week. I intend to ask the professor for a letter of recommendation once the course is completed (in about 5 weeks), and then quickly submit this letter to AADSAS. Since I haven't taken any other recent courses, how do I go about obtaining the other 2 from science professors? I plan on taking another course in the fall, but that might be a little too late to complete my application. Any ideas would be appreciated.
