Letters of Rec Service, Letters of Rec, and AADSAS application.

So I go to UCI and they have a letters of recommendation service basically they collect your letters in a "file" and them mail out verified copies to whatever professonal/Ph.D service etc that you're applying for. However AADSAS doesn't accept these "copies" from the service because they're not a committee and they're not originals. The solution that the UCI recommendation letters service gives, is that you can mail them directly to the school. I'm just curious where I need to mail these as I'm having a hard time finding an address where L.O.R's need to be mailed for each school. Has anyone used this service? Will they mail my letters to the right place if I just give them what schools I want to apply?

Also I have a letter of Rec from a DDS I used to volunteer for my senior year of HS, I'm fairly certain it's a good letter however I'm not sure the relevance of the letter since it's been so long. I currently will be sending out 6 letters: 2 biology, 1 research, 1 work experience, 1 clinical volunteering (dental related), and 1 letter from HS Dental office volunteering. I'm worried that this is too many letters... should I scrap the HS Dental letter?

Additionally I'm curious about the AADSAS application itself. I'm planning on taking my DAT's at the end of July and then applying right after that. To facilitate that I've been working on completing my application in advance, entering classes, getting my letters of recommendation, grades, personal statement, etc. I submitted my transcript already for the grade matching service, I was wondering if there was any other time consuming things (that take time to process that I should do in advance?) Any help would be appreciated, I'm really stressing out.

Why don't you mail the letters directly to AADSAS rather than the school?

As for the HS Dental letter. Since it's been too long, I'm not sure they accept it. As long as you have another letter from a dentist, you'll be fine. Six letters might be too many.

You definitely what to have your application submitted as soon as possible. Even if you haven't taken the DAT yet. It will take time to process the application and your DAT scores are sent directly to the schools anyways. Visit the website of each school that you are applying to and see what they require in terms of the secondary application. Get all your photos ready and write out those checks.

If the OP already has his letters written, I doubt the letter writers would wand to send out another copy. Plus that would take more time,

I too am using a letter forwarding service. I posted something about this a couple months ago, since two schools I was applying too stated on the website to send letters to AADSAS and not directly to them! People who applied last year said they had no problems sending letters directly to theses schools.

As far as addresses, it is probably the same address that you send checks and supplemental applications. I would call and confirm with each school.

APPLY NOW! and then when you take your DAT at the end of July you app will be finished shortly after. If you wait to submit until end of July, you risk waiting and additional 4-8 weeks until you app is sent to the schools. August sounds a lot better than October of November.

Why not?

They do accept LOR from letter services I don't know what you guys are talking about. Usually there's a FAQ on your career center website that explains what you need to do. Log onto your application online and go to evaluators. You need to print out a matching form for each individual evaluator and fill out the information. Along with that, you need to have the letter writer submit the letter to your letter service. When you are ready to send them out, you need to have your letter service send BOTH the matching form and the letter of recommendation to AADSAS. I have 2 letters on paper and 2 were submitted electronically and it worked fine. Hope that helps

I have a question. Right now my LORs are on Interfolio.com. Should I send my LORs from Interfolio directly to the individual schools or should I send them to AADSAS first (will they send them to the individual schools for me?)? Thanks!

I was having the same issue. AADSAS has no problem with you forwarding the letters from interfolio to them, and then they (AADSAS) will subsequently forward these to all of your schools. There is nothing you can do about the matching form so simply name your evaluator and enter his/her info on AADSAS and when they receive the document from interfolio they will accept it.

Thanks for your reply. I have 5 LORs and I read that AADSAS only accepts 4. I may scrap the 5th LOR or send it via Interfolio. 😎
