Just a quick question guys. I am planning on applying ucsf, ucla, and univer. of wash., schools which like research experience. I am currently doing research in the field of dementia. Am I expected to get a letter from my PI, and if i dont, will i get questions regarding why i did not ask her for one? I currently have 4 letters and was considering getting a letter from another science professor instead of my research professor. Any input would be great. thanx guys.

It will never hurt your chances if you have more LOR written in favor of you, so just go ahead an get them. Just make sure you will fulfill the LOR requirements from respective schools. I don't know if there is a limit on the LOR you can submit but last year I've submitted 6 LOR without problem.
