Hello all,

In terms of letters of recommendation for medical schools, does anyone know of a resource describing the requirements for the letters for schools? As of now, I only have one letter of rec. from my research professor, one from my Honors College advisor, and I plan on having two or three more from physicians I have worked with.

Recently, however, I have been hearing that, in general, you need two or more from science faculty? Is this correct? Is there a distinction between university faculty and science faculty when it comes to this?

Thanks for the clarification. I am slightly worried, as I am unsure of these requirements.

2 science and 1 non-science professor should do for most schools

non-science would generally not be from a BCPM class

Would the non-science recommendation have to be a professor? Or could it be faculty? For example, I worked within the Academic Success Center at my University, and wanted to submit a letter of rec. from the coordinator. Would that suffice? Or must it be a professor?

use the MSAR for specific school requirements, but like I said, you're gonna want 1 non-science professor with 2 science if you want to be able to apply to 80-90% of MD schools

Okay thanks. Maybe you can help clear something up. Can a science recommendation come from a Science professor who I did research for, but was not formally taught by in a course? Or are science recommendations only from professors who have taught me?

Here you go boo boo. This is taken from my own personal list, so only some schools are on there and many are missing. Each individual school's website usually lists the specifics. MSAR usually lists maximum # of letters.
