With this new system implemented by AMCAS, do our LORs have to be submitted to AMCAS before it submits our application to the schools we have applied to?? Thanks.

Really? Ugh, I'm waiting for two recommendation letters to come in before I request my composite committee letter. I reminded my professors via e-mail but I'm freaking out, thinking they won't submit my letters, and I'll be late in requesting my composite letter. I mean, I have other letters from freshman year, but that's freshman year. These would be the stronger letters, yet they are just taking too long 🙁 Sorry for the rant.

By the way, out of curiosity, does anyone know if your committee/composite letter writer will incorporate any negative comments from professors (if there are any) in the letters that they submitted? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I would imagine that those kinds of policies vary on a school by school basis, but I would think that the answer would be: "it depends". If one prof mentions you were late sometimes, that may not make it in. If half your letters mention that they were pretty sure you were stealing lab equipment to make methamphetamine, then that's pretty likely to make it in there.

Just a word of caution for letter packets in case anyone is curious. Well, it turns out you need to send letters 1 by 1 if you plan on sending different letters to different schools, since each school wants different kinds and numbers. I wanted to try to save some money on sending all my letters as a packet but AMCAS told me that you cannot separate the letters; you apply the entire letter packet to the school. So, instead I just inputted the letters one by one into AMCAS and sent them out individually. That way I can pick and choose which letters go to where. Hope this helps someone! Goodluck to all! :luck:

thanks for the replies! By the way, do medical schools need our LORs in order to send us secondaries?

Just a question for letter packets. Yes I know that medical schools dont separate out letters. But if they want 2 science and 1 non-science, wouldnt it be okay if I just sent 3 science and 1 non-science in my packet. I mean can one extra letter of rec. really hurt my app?

I'm confused. Regarding interfolio-do we have our schools mail our letters to them, or can our advisor upload the letter on interfolio? If they can upload the letters, how will interfolio send it to the schools we have applied to? Thanks.

Anyone? Pretty please :luck:

LOR's are freaking me out. My Pre med Advisor just informed me all I have to do is give him all the letters and he will make the committee letter as well as load them into AMCAS for all students @ my school. WHEW!

I'm still nervous about the LOR part though..

Well if your school has a letter service you can just have them send the letter to AMCAS. If not and you are using interfolio then you have your school/professors or whoever send them to interfolio. Once they are in interfolio you will send these letters to AMCAS. For the small % of schools that do not use the AMCAS LOR service you will have interfolio send these to the schools individually. Hopefully that helps?

I know! I e-mailed my professors and keep calling the woman in charge of my file to see if she received anything new. I think she's getting tired of me  e-mail them!
