I am planning on applying for podiatry school this August and I need to start asking for letters of recommendation. I was wondering how this is done in terms of submitting the letters. Do the people who write the letters send them to me first and then I send with my application or do they submit them themselves? I just want to know how this works before I start asking for letters.

yeah, i'm applying this coming august also and i'm confused about the processed. can anyone answer where i can look up how the E-LORs (electronic letters of rec) works along with the portfolios or hardcopies? do i pick up the letters and send it to AACPMAS and they distribute to the schools that i apply for? (i believe that's how it's done for MD schools). so those have to be hard copies?

so confused!

it really depends on the person writing the letter. i did do the addressed stamped envelope and some of the people who wrote mine still handed them to me to look at and send in myself. the podiatrist who wrote mine typed it up, copied it, signed it, scanned it and re-send it. so i guess the answer is there are more than one way to skin a letter of rec.

Noone really cares about letters mailed directly from the writer. Most teachers and pods will email you a copy of the letter and you can mail that letter to the schools you interview at.
