Hi, I will be starting to gather my letters of recommendation within the next couple months. My question is, what do you think the best way to ask for the letter is? I personally was thinking of handing the professors my resume and my personal statement so they had some guidance. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Bring a bottle of their favourite booze.

I asked for my first letter today. All I did was go up to my prof and ask her once everyone was done with their final (summer school).

I mentioned that I don't need it until next year so she just told me to email her in a few weeks to remind her as well as send her my resume. If I would've handed her my resume in person I think that would've came off as too pushy.

Ask if they would be willing to write you a good letter of recommendation. Let them know that you are willing to provide any supplemental information that might help them. Just ask them normally, they're humans after all.
