Hello all,

I know we need 3 letters of recommendations as a part of the application process, but does it REALLY have to be from 2 professors and 1 optometrist? I have 3 Optometrist recc's and I'm not sure about the 2 professors.

thanks!

Yes, I believe it does have to be from two professors (science faculty) and one optometrist.

This is copied directly from OPTOMCAS:

Suggested sources strongly encouraged for LORs include:

An optometrist who can state through documented experience that you know what the profession of optometry entails.

A professor with whom you have done personal work (such as assisted on a specific project or served as a TA or reader), or with whom you took a course.

An employer or extracurricular activity advisor who can comment about your maturity, diligence, and conscientiousness.

However, you should look at the specific schools you're aiming for. Some places, like PCO, want TWO professor letters and ONE optometrist while others may only specify ONE optometrist, ONE professor, and a third letter of your choice. So save your time by looking up the schools you're most interested and follow their requests.
