Because I'm freaking out reading how late Interview invites are going out. I am getting verified this week, one way or the other (because it will be 6 weeks on Friday.) All my secondaries are written and ready to go. LORs will take probably 2 weeks from the second I'm released (well actually from when I start getting secondaries.) I have a DO letter. I'm a 3.64/3.46/25 (8/9/8). I applied to both LECOMs, WVSOM, Marian, Alabama, both PCOMs, LMU, Touro-NY, New England, and VCOM. I'm not URM, and I'm a NY resident, but I have a ton of shadowing hours (500+), all rural medicine because I'm from Upstate, not the cities. In addition to doing all that shadowing, I've done several hours of community service, including two service trips, I'm president of two clubs, and I tutor. I have a BS in Biology from a Jesuit university (or I will in May, anyway). With a minor in religion and medieval studies. I'm doing research on lyme disease. I want to be a rural family physician, and I made sure to stress that significantly in my PS. Just tell me I didn't blow 500 dollars.

I think you still have a chance. There are interview spots that go into March, don't count yourself out just yet. You have decent stats and it sounds like yours ECs are up there, too. It definitely helps that you want to go into rural medicine (although a lot of applicants these days say that even though it's not true). Why do you say it will take you 2 weeks for LORs? If they're already submitted into Interfolio, then you're good to go. Not sure how all your secondaries are finished if you haven't received any, yet. Regardless, if you're on top of everything from here on, I'd say you're fine. It's only September (and the application cycle can go into late Spring, technically). As soon as you're verified and receive your secondaries, submit them!! Don't give up hope yet.
Just my 2 cents 😀 Good Luck!

Why are you freaking out so much? There are people with worse grades and EC's who submitted later than you and will still get in somewhere. Is it your MCAT? Again, there are still folks with 25's who get in. You have no reason to worry right now - there is nothing you can do about it either way.

Oh, also - $500 is hardly even a drop in the bucket. Why do people seem to care so much about forking out $1000 or less to apply for programs that run $200k+?

This.

Either way you are making an investment in a career. If you don't get in this time, think of it costing you $500 to realize that you should probably apply earlier and also gave you experience handling this terrible process.

Because my school snail mails their committee letters.

I got verified this morning 😀😀😀

You are fine. Last cycle I was verified around this time. Didn't hear back from a some schools because there are just too many applications. But your stats are strong enough.

I know people who has gotten their apps later around Oct of last year and still got into the schools they want to go.

It's been a long week that keeps getting longer. I have an essay to write about Oedipus and the Bacchae that's driving me up the wall. I just want to go to LECOM next year, pretty much all I care about is doing whatever it takes to make that happen, so yeah.

ACCOMAS recalculated my GPAs. 3.65 Cum, 3.43 science. >.<

I think you still have a good chance. It's not terribly late in the season. Plus, when I withdraw from LECOM later today, there will be another spot opening. That's gonna happen A LOT, so just go with the flow bruthah!

hehehe ShabNasty already promised me his spot 😉 Now if they'll just send me their secondary... Congrats, btw dudeliness.
