I often see LiAlH4 reduction followed with H3O+ or just H2O or Ether or Ethanol & H2O

Are these different mediums likely to change the normal reduction patterns of LiAlH4? (at least on the DAT?)

I might be over thinking this but just want to make sure.

LiAlH4 is a powerful reducing agent. We do the procedure in 2 steps......The solid is dissolved in ether first.......the SECOND step is water or H30+.....a source of protons !!!!! It must be done in two steps, as an explosion would result if you mixed it directly with water. For the DAT.......after LiAlH4, the second step conditions matter little.

Good luck !
